The Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) is the largest public research organization in Italy.

Founded in 1923, CNR’s mission is to perform research in its own Institutes, to promote innovation and competitiveness of the national industrial system, to promote the internationalization of the national research system, to provide technologies and solutions to emerging public and private needs, to advice Government and other public bodies, and to contribute to the qualification of human resources.

In the CNR's research world, the main resource is the available knowledge which means people, with their skills, commitment and ideas. This capital comprises more than 8.000 employees, of whom more than half are researchers and technologists. Some 4.000 young researchers are engaged in postgraduate studies and research training at CNR within the organization’s top-priority areas of interest. A significant contribution also comes from research associates: researchers, from Universities or private firms, who take part in CNR’s research activities.

Area Science Park is a national public research organization based in Trieste and supervised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. It was created back in 1978 to develop and support scientific and technological research in the region.  

Over the years, Area Science Park has accrued specific skills in conceiving, developing and implementing technology transfer initiatives, integrated systems and innovative services.

Today, Area Science Park’s main focuses include: highly specialized research, innovation models to support industry, management and development of the science park.

All initiatives and activities are devised to support the ecological transition.

Università degli Studi di Milano (UNIMI) is a public research university in Milan, Italy, funded in 1924. It is one of the largest universities in Europe, with about 60,000 students, and a permanent teaching and research staff of about 2,000. It is active on a wide range of different disciplines from science to humanities. 

A multidisciplinary, innovative educational offering and a continuous focus on the new professional skills demanded by a rapidly evolving labour market have characterised the University since its early days. Over the years the University has also strengthened its commitment to technology transfer and to the practical application of scientific research results in the economic-production context.
